Help in Haiti

I am sure many of you remember Guy Pierre Jean, who worked as our maintenance guy at both 79 Fifth and Maiden Lane.

I heard from Guy's daughter that he passed away a couple of years ago. She had found Jay/Day.org and had seen my post asking about him. She said that working with us at CD was a great part of Guy's life. And he was a very important person to many of us as well.

Guy was one of the most elegant men I ever knew. He was all heart and action. When we moved from 79 Fifth, he saw all the half used office supplies that we were going to throw away and asked if he might send it to a school in Haiti (his country of origin). From that time on, we would send a package to Haiti when ever we had a box full of used markers, paper, pencils...anything that might be useful

In Guy's memory, I made a donation for relief efforts in Haiti after the devestating blow to what is already the poorest country in the western hemisphere.

If you'd like to do the same, here are some agencies that are collecting monies to help in Haiti.

UNICEF

CARE

Catholic Relief Services

United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) - USA

I'm Guy's daughter. I just performed a random search on Google for his name and I stumbled across this post. I never knew this about my father. It brought tears to my eyes and made my day. Thank you for posting this.

May God bless you...
