Chiat/Day Virtual Office

For those of you interested in what happened to the furnishings from the Maiden Lane office, much of it ended up at Miami Ad School, where the lockers and walls have been installed. The school also has the water fountains, some tables and the "glass" blocks. If you're every in South Beach, you're welcome to stop by.

These photos bring back a lot of great memories from Maiden Lane. I loved coming to work every day. Please post more photos if you have them - especially if they include employees...

That's me walking with Marty Cooke. I just put the sweater vest on ebay. The bidding is up to 1 dollar so if interested, act fast.

Wow. I can still smell the solvents from the floor...

I will never forget working in that space. Everything about it was so fun. It made for an enjoyable experience even when working on something totally stressfull. I have to dig up some of the "mementos" I have kept and will try to send pictures of them to Steve.
I think I still have a couple business cards, a Chiat/Day University baseball cap and maybe more paperwork from the "paperless office"
Keep up the good work Steve! I check the site weekly to see whats new and provocative. Very good visual stimuli for the eyes and mind!

I used to sit right at the bottom of the fire escape where the private room was. It was a nice little getaway for everyone. Especially if you wanted to take a quick snooze.

Splendid, this was the location of my first job upon leaving university. In my current job I keep looking for my easter island head lockers. I also take command of co-workers' desks after they've gone to the loo. Shockingly they become quite indignant. I've tried to explain the office on Maiden Lane but they just think it's another one of my all-nighter induced 90's flashbacks. Where was this article printed? It might not explain why I still wear numerous t-shirts at once or have an relentless cynicsm to just about everything but I now have proof about the virtual office! Top drawer!
Thanks,

Hello, I a 5th year architecture student attending the University of Malta, Malta. I am currently compiling my thesis work for the final degree. The work I am doing regards the relation ship between the worker and the work space. While reading various literature I came across the case studies of your offices both of NY and LA. I do not know if you can help me, please. The comments posted here make a very interesting read about your work space scenario. As from the literature I am reading the only information i can get is technical and some what impersonal, would it be possible to explain to me your feelings regarding the space you used to work in, how you were affected by the change that took place from your previous offices to the one that Mr Chiat promoted. How did you experience your job? How did it help your performance at work? Was it more of stimulating environment? How does it combine with your workspace preconception, if there was a preconception beforehand? Thank you for your time in reading this, kind regards

It is a brilliant idea! I have followed some architecture courses myself, but never found any job in this business. It seems that virtual architecture is my future and I regret that I had to sell out my real office since I am working from home now, in a virtual office, designed specially for me, but which has the same colors as yours here.

Hi, I am currently doing research on work practices and the mobile office and am looking at past visions of the office of the future. Would you be able to tell me which magazine you sourced these images in of Chiat Day's headquarters in LA and New York. Thanks Justine
