Mark Doyle
This sad note just arrived from James Doyle ...
Just wanted to let you know that my father, Mark Doyle, passed more or less peacefully on July 6, 2008, around 11 PM.I would like to thank all of his friends and former colleagues for helping to make his last days happy ones. He spent his recent years entirely too isolated, and it meant a lot to him to be reminded just how highly regarded he still is among those who knew and worked with him. It means more than I can say to his family as well.
We've lost a good one, and he can never be replaced. Please keep him in your thoughts.
James

I worked for Mark in 1983 at Doyle Van Fossen. He would occasionally do projects for Jay and the New York office, so I thought working for him might get me closer to a job at Chiat/Day LA. It did. Six months later I was hired to worked on Apple. The day I planned to give notice, Mark walked into my office first thing and handed me a spot bonus. After taking several minutes to compose myself, I went into his office, returned the check and told him I was leaving. He stood up, congratulated me and made me keep the check. That's the kind of person he was.
Mark passed away on my 55th birthday.
