Paul Decker

Paul was the first creative hire at Chiat/Day back in the early 70s. He was brought in as a producer, but eventually became a writer. He now lives in Portland, where I am visiting. We spoke about taking Amtrak to Seattle, which I will do tomorrow, and he provided this hand-made film of one of his trips.

Brian Belefant

Brian-1

I'm in Portland, Oregon, and got taken to lunch by Brian Belefant. He was at C/D LA from '86 to '89, working as a writer and then an art director on the Nissan account.

He has two adorable children and runs a small ad agency in Portland called 20Fifteen.

Steve Jobs

Steve-Jobs Inc-Cover

I'm on the West Coast right now, and don't have much time to post, but I certainly can't let the news of Steve Jobs' resignation as CEO pass unnoticed.

I have a personal memory of him: December 1983, just before the Mac was introduced. Jay threw a Christmas party at his apartment. (The one on the Upper East Side.) Steve was there and at one point, I found myself (along with others) sitting at the breakfast bar in the kitchen drinking champagne with Steve Jobs. Of course, I didn't know he was going to turn IN to THAT Steve Jobs. But it was a wonderful night and it was the first time I'd had quality champagne. What a fabulous hangover!

Tomorrow: the day I Fedexed breakfast to him.

Lisa Wellington

Many thanks to Lisa Wellington, a media buyer from C/D NY, who made a gracious donation to the site. Lisa had the fortune/misfortune of starting at C/D two weeks before the virtual office. And look folks, she's still alive!!
