It is a rare occurrence for me to get a visitor to my log cabin high atop the Catskill Mountains, so it was a special treat yesterday afternoon and evening when Scott Salmon drove up for dinner and lot of chatting.

Scott worked for me at 666 Fifth Avenue when he and Peter Franke and I were all in Print Production. He then went to the vendor side, representing a printer, and was a frequent visitor at 79 Fifth. He married Judy Zell, who also worked at Chiat\Day. He is now married to a lovely woman named Suzan and is a devoted father to their son, Shayne.

Brent Thomas was recently cleaning out his garage and found some stills and call sheets from the filming of the 1984 commercial. He has kindly posted them on the web for all of us to see.

The call sheets were provided by Nadia Owen, Ridley Scott's producer.

It's a fascinating trove of information about the most famous commercial in history, which Brent wrote.

Many thanks to Emmanuel (Manny) Rappaport for making a donation to the site. Manny was a very inventive researcher in the early days of Chiat/Day. Chuck Phillips has fond memories of Manny when we were pitching Chuck E. Cheese in the late 70's and he sat on their conference room floor to illustrate how their customers (kids) view the world. Says Chuck, "it certainly caught me by surprise. they thought he was wonderful and he was."

Few people realize this, but it costs appx. $193.67 billion per year to run this site. (Wait a minute, that's the Gross Domestic Product of Nigeria. I often get them confused.)

But there ARE hosting fees and bandwidth fees and time, of course. Plus I'm never really quite sure if there ARE any wonderful people out there in the dark. (In other words, do people actually visit the site. The statistics can be misleading.) So when somebody donates, it shows that this site actually has value to someone.

Anyway, along comes Tom Patty with a donation (for a SECOND time!) Thank you, Tom. That was mighty generous of you.

Tom's been the subject of a couple of articles on this site. One is about the business seminars he runs (click here) The other was about the release of a CD of Tom singing. Yes, Garbo talks and Tom Patty sings! (Listen here.)

If you missed the reunion at the Old Town for Louise Seeley (formerly Mrs. Bob Dion), you missed the party of the decade. It was JUST like we'd all shown up from a hard day of work at 69 Fifth.

Let me test my brain by trying to remember everybody who was there: Louise (obviously), as well as her husband, Mike. John Salvati, Tom Scherma, Frank Scherma, Sue Katzen, Ken Segall, Jeff DeJoseph, Robin Raj, Suzanne Stack, and Evert Cilliers attended.

It is said that every copywriter has an unpublished novel somewhere in their drawer or hard drive. Hillary Jordan, who worked as a copywriter in Venice (Nissan and Eveready, late 80s and early 90s) has not only published ONE book, but has now come out with another!

A big alumni howdy to Rhonda Shade, who worked as an account executive in the promotions group for Nissan and Infiniti.

She's a digital executive and since leaving Chiat/Day, has worked at such companies as Night Agency, The Barbarian Group, and Deep Focus.
