You can't scare me ...

I've often used this phrase when somebody tries to intimidate me. I think it would make a lovely t-shirt.

Stuart Freedman

CD Tor Tshirt.jpg

I have over 3,000 emails in my inbox and that means that sometimes I fail to see something important: like this one from C/D Toronto alum, Stuart Freedman. Thanks for sending this, Stuart.

Hi Steve,

Hope all is well for you.

I was just going through a couple drawers and came across this t-shirt that was given out by Chuck Phillips at the opening of the Toronto office on Lower Spadina. I was employee #18 and proud of it. I met some of the smartest, most talented people that I have known during my stint there. Good job Chuck! And sorry about the wrinkles!

Wrinkles or no wrinkles, Stuart, we here at JayDay Central are always happy to receive whatever memorabilia we can get! Steve

Scott Sanford's pencil

Scott Sanford was kind enough to send me this entry about a C/D tschotcke that still lives in his home:

Annette and I came across this recently. Hanging around with all the other pencils in our house. We still use it to create the occasional grocery list. It's not as exciting as when it started out as a young pencil back in Manhattan. But it survived the trip across the country and the dot com boom and bust. Now it's living a much quieter life here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Increasingly shorter and not as useful but still proud.

Gehry Cups 'n Saucers

Leslie Cicurel Engel was kind enough to send these to me:

Hi Steve, To my surprise, while packing up my kitchen in advance of a renovation,I found a coffee cup set from Chiat/Day days. These were given to us in commemoration of the opening of the Venice Beach 'binocular' office. Don't know if you can see the date on the back of the saucer ; it's 1991.They have a reproduction of the drawing Frank Gehry scribbled on a napkin and gave to Jay when trying to describe what the new building would look like... or so the story went. In any event, thought you and other C/Ders would get a kick out of seeing them again. I'm wondering if anyone else still has a set. Hope you are well. Best regards - Leslie
